Coating process
As the application of corrosion-resis-
tant spring wires is not always possible
due to cost restraints there are special
coating processes available to enhance
corrosion protection. During these
processes great care must be taken to
prevent the basic character of the ma-
terial being altered, for example due to
hydrogen embrittlement, and the forma-
tion of cracks in the surface layer after
severe deformation. Commonly used
anti-corrosive coating systems include
Delta-Protekt, Delta-Seal and the ca-
thodic dip coating system. Depending
on the spring geometry and after evalu-
ating all the cost aspects, parts can be
coated in bulk or individually.
Technical cleanliness
The continuous optimisation of auto-
motive engineering systems (e.g. gear-
boxes, injection systems, etc.) is mak-
ing the technical cleanliness of individ-
ual components ever more important.
The quantity and size of metallic parti-
cles is a decisive factor.
SCHERDEL has special cleaning sys-
tems to achieve the required level of
technical cleanliness, which is subse-
quently tested at the in-house laborato-
ry. Some specimens are cleaned either
in an ultrasonic basin or high-pressure
flushing and then filtered. After the fil-
tering process, the number and size of
particles is determined. All the process-
es described here demand extensive
knowledge of materials and technical
processes. SCHERDEL ensures that its
customers benefit from tailored ser-
vices, expert advice and industry-spe-
cific know-how at all times.
