All successful models equipped with
SCHERDEL products
From eco engine
to racing car
prings, components and vehicle
parts produced by SCHERDEL for
the automotive industry are charac-
terised by their outstanding product
quality. This applies, in particular, to
valve springs and spring elements with
variable valve lift which significantly in-
fluence the performance and lifespan of
an engine. In international motor racing
valve springs are subjected to even
greater loads. It is therefore yet more
confirmation of the Groupʼs amazing
achievements when SCHERDEL, as an
automotive parts supplier, indirectly
shares the podium with vehicle manu-
facturers at highly prestigious award
ceremonies, such as the ʻInternational
Engine of the Year Awardsʼ, or at the
famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
This yearʼs coveted ʻInternational
Engine of the Year Awardsʼ, which at-
tracted international media attention,
were once again a great success for
SCHERDEL. The highlight of the event
was Fordʼs new 1.0 litre, three cylinder
EcoBoost engine, which won first prize
in the category ʻInternational Engine of
the Yearʼ. The engine, which debuted
across the Ford Focus range this year,
was also voted ʻBest New Engineʼ in
the class under 1.0 litre. And also ʻon
boardʼ valve springs from SCHERDEL.
In this specific case, they are a special-
ly developed and dynamically opti-
mised valve spring produced at the
Beauvais factory in France.
SCHERDEL also supplies the first, sec-
ond and third placed vehicle manufac-
turer in almost all of the other cate-
gories of the ʻEngine of the Year
Awardsʼ – for example ʻBest New En-
gineʼ, ʻBest Green Engineʼ and ʻBest
Performance Engineʼ. Another reason
for celebration is the fact that all the
premiered engines with variable valve
lift control units contain functional com-
ponents developed and produced by
SCHERDEL.
AUDI reaffirmed its recent dominance
at the 80th running of the famous 24-
Hours of Le Mans. The four AUDI R18s
were the fastest and most reliable vehi-
cles and finished the endurance classic
in first, second, third and fifth place.
Both the winner and the runner-up
drove an AUDI e-tron quattro with hy-
brid drive – a first in the history of the
race. In these models, a conventional
drive is intelligently combined with an
electrically driven front axle.
SCHERDEL valve springs once again
showed their extra class in the V6-TDI
engines with VTG mono turbocharger,
which were used in all four AUDI cars
at Le Mans. The success and awards
provide the entire Group with even
more incentive to support progress in
the automotive industry through innova-
tive and high quality solutions.
