components for X-ray stands. The initial
focus of the sales efforts is on the Eu-
ropean and US market, but the Group
already has its sights set firmly on the
Asian market and the emerging
economies. The rising per-capita in-
come and a rapidly increasing middle
class population combined with the un-
fortunately growing incidence of so-
called lifestyle diseases, such as obesi-
ty and unhealthy diet, are leading to a
growing demand for more comprehen-
sive medical care in developing coun-
tries. That said, current and future de-
mographic changes in Europe will ulti-
mately result in further growth in the
healthcare sector closer to home.
As in the automotive industry,
SCHERDEL’s customers in the medical
engineering sector profit, in particular,
from the Group’s high capacity for de-
velopment and multiple synergies. FEM
calculations are employed to digitally
analyse and enhance virtual component
models before rapidly designing and
developing real objects at the in-house
prototype shop to the high standards of
the medical industry. Positive market
feedback is also helping to promote the
industrialisation of manufacturing
processes within the company. Later
this year, SCHERDEL‘s French sub-
sidiary Spires 2000 will commence pro-
duction of medical products at its clean
room facility in Beauvais. There will be
more news on this soon. In short, it is
reasonable to assume that the develop-
ment of medical components and parts
at SCHERDEL will be accelerated and
also be a major contributing factor to
the continued growth in sales.

SCHERDEL Medtec
GmbH & Co. KG exhibit-
ing at trade shows
To ensure its customers in
the healthcare sector have
key points of contact and re-
ceive optimum advice and a
high level of service in a dy-
namic market, the
SCHERDEL
Group
has found-
ed SCHERDEL Medtec
GmbH & Co. KG. The inspira-
tion for the foundation of this
enterprise was also the grow-
ing range of medical products
which demanded the creation
of new organisational struc-
tures. The new company will
be raising its profile in the fu-
ture by exhibiting at trade
shows in its own name whilst
upholding the values and
standards of the Group. The
goal is to secure a regular
presence at key international
trade shows and events de-
voted to medical issues.
These include, for example,
Compamed in Dusseldorf,
Pharmapack in Paris or
MEDTEC in Stuttgart.
A trade show team was re-
cently on hand in Stuttgart to
share information with inter-
ested customers. The med-
ical engineering specialists
from SCHERDEL were partic-
ularly delighted to report a
massive increase in visitors
of more than 20 percent com-
pared to last year. The nu-
merous new contacts estab-
lished at the show will help to
unlock the youngest
SCHERDEL subsidiary’s po-
tential for growth. Therefore,
medical engineering has now
become the Group’s third line
of business besides automo-
tive and mechanical engi-
neering.

“Our continued success in the medical engineering sector
has resulted in an increase in demand at SCHERDEL for
skilled labour in this field. To this end, collaboration with
the respective university departments is of particular im-
portance. At SCHERDEL, students have the opportunity to
put the theoretical and practical medical product skills de-
veloped on their courses into practice in our development
processes - from the idea and conception through to the
market launch. It is also a chance to design and advance
this still relatively young industry for SCHERDEL.”
