SCHERDELnews Edition 3/14 english - page 1

Dear Reader,
To get an idea of just how impor-
tant internationalisation is for our
Group, consider the large order we
recently received from a car manu-
facturer which clearly stipulated
that all its global production sites
needed to be supplied efficiently
and with the same commitment to
high quality. With this in mind, our
new plant in Mexico is definitely a
step in the right direction. Now, for
the first time, our valve springs are
being produced “locally” world-
wide. However, one should keep
in mind that internationalisation in-
variably involves significant costs.
The same applies to the develop-
ment of new business areas,
whether it is in connection with
electromobility or in the field of
medical engineering. It fills me
with pride to know that the out-
standing development skills of our
entire team have convinced med-
ical sector customers of our prod-
uct and service range. In short,
we have already managed to
surpass the expectations which
SCHERDEL had when entering
this new field of activity. The ability
to provide advance performances
combined with reliability, quality
and innovative thinking make our
company an excellent partner for
all our clients. Anyone who truly
knows SCHERDEL will realise just
how dynamic we really are. We
are now charged with the task of
convincing new customers of the
cost-efficient synergies within our
Group through excellent services.

SCHERDEL – a proven partner in
a global market
S
CHERDEL worldwide – this short
and precise statement not only
sums up our mission, it also represents
an obligation. The SCHERDEL produc-
tion site in Mexico is a prime example
of what it takes for suppliers to follow
their customers when they internation-
alise their operations, and to develop
“local” supply facilities. Driven by a
passion for perfection, the Group decid-
ed to implement novel 3D factory plan-
ning software for the construction of the
new plant in Silao de la Victoria, a city
in the state of Guanajuato. Members of
staff at the previous location in Leon
were invited to provide innovative sug-
gestions and proposals which were
then incorporated into the considera-
tions and underpinned by expert knowl-
edge from within the Group. With the
aid of the software it was possible to
optimise route planning and workflows
step-by-step, thus ensuring more effi-
cient procedures compared to the old
site. Close cooperation with all the
Group’s departments involved in the
new facility guarantees complete verti-
cal integration, meaning the relevant
products for the American market can
be produced on-site at the new loca-
tion. A shining example is also the
speed at which the project has been
completed. Production is planned to
start in Silao de la Victoria at the begin-
ning of 2015 after just twelve months of
construction. The Group has therefore
realised new, state-of-the-art produc-
tion installations in record time. Conse-
quently, SCHERDEL is one of the top
addresses when customers demand
the development of production tech-
nologies and capacities for short deliv-
ery times abroad. Discover more about
the new plant in Mexico on the follow-
ing pages.
